What customers say?

“ The best pub I've ever found in over three decades of experience in Japan. Great food, nice beer and staff and customers seem to be best friends with each other. Once you've spent ten minutes here, you'll be speaking to either the staff or another customer like they're your old friends. Get down to Lighthouse for a great time with Japanese and other nationalities. Live music and other events take place regularly in this place owned by a Dutch/English lady. ”

“ I’ve been coming here for about 4 years and while I’m not a big drinker, I’ve found this place to be my own little oasis for being involved with my community. What sets this place apart from any ol’HUB is that all the people that frequent Lighthouse are all from our local community. The Japanese customers that come here want to speak English, or learn from the staff who run conversation cafes in the daytime. It’s never felt like the spot to pick up Japanese people or foreigners just looking for a good time. The staff are always warm and friendly and encourage you to come out to different events that they are doing in and outside the pub. The food is good, but I usually only get chicken & chips just because they have the best chicken chips in the city. Plus the sauces that go with it are amazing too. They even have their own vegan menu. Despite my initial opinions, their vegan burgers actually taste like the real thing. ”

“ This place is cool, it feels like a proper European bar. I spotted this place on google maps but only had time to stop by with a friend and kids for a quick drink and snack after walking around the neighbourhood all afternoon. I don’t live in Kokubunji but the friendliness of the owner/staff makes me want to go back for a proper session and check out a band one evening. We went around 5pm and the children were very welcome early, there’s no smoking and plenty in there to interest them and they were so happy with the Dutch waffle they were given on the way out. The chips and cheese were fried to perfection the drinks are well priced and I want to try more of the menu. ”

“ It's a little Amsterdam! I have been playing here with so much fun. Drinks and foods are simply good, the decor are just like a Dutch pub. ”

“ Friendly and cozy, fun place for everyone. Family friendly but it's not a kids friendly kind of place. The customers are mostly non-Japanese and speak several different languages. Food is fairly priced and delicious. Drinks are kind of cheap but they have premium priced drinks, too. They often have special events like LIVE music, international parties and Pub quiz night. ”

“ Awesome pub with a great owner. Lots of both foreign and Japanese patrons who are incredibly friendly. Highly recommend a visit! ”

“ sweet and enchanting. excellent atmosphere, teal dutch cheese, large tables for friendly regulars and best 'bitterballen' I have ever had ”

“ Amazing atmosphere, just packed to the brim with fun nostalgia on every surface of the rooms! Fun interactive calendar of community events, including holiday celebrations and game nights! Whole menu of vegetarian and vegan options, and some great meat choices too, including a very nice Dutch Fried Meatball. Excellent seasoning on their onion rings, and the apple pie is actually shipped in from the Netherlands! ”
